Given the influx of jobs and affluence that surrounds the Amazon campus, it’s little wonder that 238 cities dove into the fray as potential sites for Amazon HQ2. Amazon has stated that it expects “to invest over $5 billion in construction and grow this second headquarters to include as many as 50,000 high-paying jobs.”
This week, according to Curbed L.A., Amazon announced that the list is now narrowed down to 20 locations. What’s most exciting is that Los Angeles is the only city on the West Coast to make the cut. While the article suggests that “Los Angeles” is still defined in the broadest terms, the impact on the region could be significant. The company will spend the coming months investigating each city’s proposal and expects to make a decision before the year is out.
