My listing of Suzanne Somers’ Palm Springs 73-acre estate was highlighted by the Wall Street Journal (PDF). Read more about this incredible listing!
From the Wall Street Journal – Private Properties:
Actress Suzanne Somers and her husband, Alan Hamel, have put their 73-acre estate in Palm Springs, California, on the market for $14.5 million, almost 59% lower than when it was first listed in 2008.
The compound is in Mesa Canyon, near downtown Palm Springs. The property has five buildings with a total of 10 bedrooms and 11 bathrooms. The kitchen and living room are in on one structure; the master suite is in another, with two guest rooms below. There is also a guesthouse, built in the 1920s by Palm Springs architect Albert Frey, made out of rocks gathered from the property.
There is no garage. There is a carport, from which the compound is accessed either by a funicular (an open-door elevator on tracks), a golf cart or a set of 75 steps. There is an outdoor amphitheater that seats 50 as well as a pool, a spa, hiking trails, and a natural waterfall.
Ms. Somers and Mr. Hamel, a talk-show host and film and TV producer, bought the home — originally a 4-acre property — in 1977, adding land to it over the years.
They first put the home on the market in 2008 for $35 million, then again later for 17.5 million before relisting this month.
“We love the home but are selling it because we are constructing a new home in the middle of 500 acres in a different part of Palm Springs,” says Mr. Hamel.
Ms. Somers, who has written self-improvement books in recent years, starred in television shows including “Three’s Company”.
Joyce Rey of Coldwell Banker Previews International has the listing.
