Sue Firestone of SFA Design has been a leader in the international design world, I had a fabulous personal tour of the extraordinary new Viceroy L’Ermitage in Beverly Hills which included the impressive Presidential suite and the renovation she recently completed. The new restaurant Avec Nous looks divine, I cannot wait to revisit this fabulous hotel.
Viceroy L’Ermitage Beverly Hills
The renovation at this iconic five-star, five-diamond property includes 116 new guestrooms and suites, common areas, reception and lobby, VIP, meeting rooms, event space and Avec Nous, the on-site French Bistro.
The newly designed lobby provides an unforgettable entrance. When guests arrive, they are immediately enveloped by architectural paneled walls comprised of antique mirror, white bronze metal, translucent white gold glass and opaque white gold glass. The Front Desk stands out with its combination of gold inlayed wood with access of polished chrome, copper and brass and thick alpine onyx marble top while the desk is offset to the rear by a wall of onyx and featured art piece.
Translucent glass in the wall panels created a subtle “people watching” element; boldly-patterned stone floor coverings lead the eye through the sweeping space, while the ceiling painted in a reflective metallic color as an added touch of glamour. The lobby and its lounge are set by the alpine Namibia white marble stone flooring with stone transitions into the lounge library and guestroom passageway.
The 116 renovated guestroom suites have been transformed into beautiful retreats. luxurious, light and modern, while retaining the overall tone of understated elegance in shades of cream beige, pale and warm grays, tape and smoke lavender, With hints of color to add contrast and distinction. The carpet design is inspired by a watercolor painting, while the walls envelopes the room in light caramel, electrified with flecks of gold and gray. Floor to ceiling headboards of suede, velvet and white gold metallic fabric balance beautifully with the room’s striking Venetian Cut-Glass Mirrors. The bed is framed by angular nightstands with clean lines, accentuating the unique bedside lamps that dazzle in stunning amber quartz.
The New wood floor is a light tape, blending with natural woods used throughout the space. Sumptuous materials like champagne metallic oak, parchment, taupe lacquer, mirrored surfaces, antique brass and white gold blend with lush velvets, suede’s and silks to provide a soft, inviting yet lavish escape.
The guest bathroom features a new make-up/vanity area, reminiscent of Old Hollywood, with a modern twist. Function and form are perfectly fused with superb lighting and ample drawer space, and a fusion of luxe materials. The existing crema marfil stone on the walls are illuminated by fresh metallic white gold ceilings, while the new floor is enhanced with crema marfil mosaic, white onyx and dark gray marble. These stones repeat on the vanity countertop, a two-tone blend of pale taupe and cream lacquer. The vanity wall is further defined by an onyx and mother-of-pearl stone mosaic. The result: a rich, handsome balance of opulent materials.
