Casa Lago, Bel Air’s newest masterpiece, rests atop a private bluff overlooking Stone Canyon and the sparkling waters of a private reservoir. As Bel Air’s closest property to the waterfront, Casa Lago recalls the great villas in Italy’s lake region with stunning 300-degree views and immaculate gardens chiseled into the hillside.
Three floors, spanning approximately 21,000 square feet, all seamlessly connect by elevator and smart home technology, with most rooms leading to magnificent terraces, loggias and breathtaking views from city to water. Step inside the foyer and discover exquisite architectural detailing and every modern amenity imaginable. Entertain in the formal living and dining rooms, wine room, billiards room or theater. Inspire your sense of wellness with the gym, indoor pool, sauna and steam shower. Soak in the infinity pool as you look down on Bel Air, or simply enjoy the sweeping canyon, city and ocean panoramas as you sit by the firepit. At every turn, Casa Lago delights.
A 23,000-square-foot newly constructed home overlooking a reservoir in Bel Air has just hit the market with a price tag of $34.9 million.
Casa Lago, an eight-bedroom, 15-bath home at 1940 Bel Air Road in Los Angeles, overlooks a private reservoir that was a setting for the 1974 movie Chinatown. “The most unique feature of the home is its position overlooking the Bel Air Stone Canyon Reservoir,” said Joyce Rey of Coldwell Banker Previews International, who shares the listing with Dan Glaser, also of Coldwell Banker.
The Mediterranean-style mansion was designed to take advantage of the reservoir views, as well as those of Los Angeles. The home features many terraces and loggias and lots of floor-to-ceiling windows. Finishes include Persian onyx, marble and French limestone, and there are stained glass skylights throughout. “It’s designed for an 8.3 on the Richter scale earthquake,” said Victor Nikravesh, an advisor to the builder.
Like most high-end homes these days, Casa Lago also features smart home technology, a wine room, billiards room, and a theater that seats 14 people. There are both an outdoor infinity pool and a separate indoor pool. Both have hot tubs and steam rooms. The home also features a gym and a fire pit.
The property lies about a 12-minute drive from Rodeo Drive. It is a speculative house (built without a committed buyer) by Marmara Development Group, founded by Hassam Aghnami. This is Aghnami’s first luxury speculative home but he has been in the construction industry for more than 25 years. He is currently working on four other luxury homes.
Rey said the home would likely appeal to foreign buyers, particularly those from the Middle East or Asia who prefer new construction to previously-owned almost exclusively.
